Trump Border Czar Promises Quick Action On Immigration, Illegal Migrants

Tom Homan, appointed “border czar” by President-elect Donald Trump, stated he and the 47th president aim to act swiftly on border security and illegal immigration.

“We’re not waiting,” Homan said, noting his meetings with Gov. Greg Abbott, the National Sheriffs’ Association, and Canadian officials. “We’ve already started working on securing the border.”

When asked about sanctuary cities ignoring ICE detainers, Homan cited a Brooklyn DA’s refusal to honor one for a suspect in a recent horrific crime. He mentioned discussing public safety with NYC Mayor Eric Adams, who pledged cooperation but acknowledged challenges with the city council.

“Any official should want to remove public safety threats,” Homan emphasized.

Last week, Tom Homan warned that deportation sweeps will include many illegal immigrants with no prior arrests.

In an interview with the Washington Examiner, Homan detailed plans to arrest, detain, and deport hundreds of thousands, or even millions, of illegal immigrants. He emphasized that even those whose only offense is entering the U.S. illegally should be returned to their home countries.

“In sanctuary cities, expect collateral arrests,” Homan said, explaining that targeting criminals often leads to detaining others in the process.

Sanctuary cities and states, mostly led by Democrats, refuse to cooperate with ICE, forcing agents to make arrests at homes and workplaces. Homan noted there are over 700,000 criminal aliens with convictions and 1.4 million with deportation orders as priorities for enforcement.
