The Obamas were very vocal after the Supreme Court ended Affirmative Action on college campuses but their hypocrisy was quickly discovered.
“Affirmative action was never the full solution for building a more equitable society. However, for generations of students who faced systemic exclusion from many of America’s leading institutions, it provided an opportunity to prove they rightfully earned their place. Following the Supreme Court’s recent decision, we must renew our commitment to this cause,” former President Obama stated in a retweet of Michelle Obama’s press release.
Reflecting on her college experience, former First Lady Michelle Obama shared, “As one of the few Black students on campus, I was proud to have earned my place at such a prestigious school. I knew I worked hard for it. Yet, there were times I couldn’t escape the shadow of doubt—whether from others or my own thoughts—that I was there because of affirmative action.”
She continued, “The truth is, I belonged. And over decades, countless students like me have proved they belonged too. It wasn’t just students of color who gained; every student who encountered new perspectives, challenged assumptions, and expanded their understanding benefited. While it wasn’t perfect, affirmative action opened doors to opportunity for those who had long been denied the chance to excel.”
Ironically, the Obamas’ reflections came amid reports by The Daily Mail showing them vacationing with celebrities in Greece, highlighting the stark contrast between their advocacy and their lifestyle.
The Daily Mail reported that former President Barack Obama, 61, and actor Tom Hanks, 66, were seen vacationing together in Greece with their families. Exclusive photos captured the group dining al fresco at Cantina, a waterfront restaurant on the island of Sifnos. Joining Barack were his wife Michelle, 59, and daughters Sasha, 22, and Malia, 24.
An onlooker shared that the group arrived at Paralia Seralia beach via dinghy from a luxury yacht anchored nearby.
“Seeing Obama in person was surreal,” the observer noted, adding that the group’s overwhelming presence was heightened by heavy security, which even monitored restroom access.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court issued a significant ruling, striking down President Biden’s student debt relief program. The Court ruled 6-3 against the administration’s plan to forgive up to $20,000 in student loans per borrower, arguing the HEROES Act did not grant such authority. This decision ends a program that aimed to erase over $6 billion in student debt.
