Speaker Johnson Announces Major News After Meeting with Trump

House Speaker Mike Johnson shared a major update following his meeting with President-elect Donald Trump this week.

House Speaker Mike Johnson emphasized that Republicans will quickly pass President Trump’s agenda. “We will be aggressive and push the America First Agenda for the American people from day one,” Johnson declared. This followed Trump’s full support during a meeting at Capitol Hill, where House Republicans re-elected Johnson as their leader with no opposition. The vote took place in a closed-door session at the Hyatt Regency near the Capitol.

During his visit to Capitol Hill, Trump assured lawmakers that he fully supported Speaker Mike Johnson, urging him, Majority Leader Steve Scalise, and Majority Whip Tom Emmer to stay united for the upcoming congressional term. Trump also promised to lead the “largest deportation operation in history,” which was met with enthusiasm from House Republicans. In a light-hearted moment, Trump joked about a potential fourth run for president, though he made it clear he wasn’t serious.

Trump joked with House Republicans, saying he likely wouldn’t run for president again unless they pushed for it. Reflecting on their success, he acknowledged the historic victories, particularly for the president, and praised the strong performance of the House, which he believes played a key role in the GOP’s achievements. He expressed pride in the wins, noting how the party did well in states that were once considered difficult to win.

Trump remarked that the GOP’s victory was especially significant since Republicans aren’t expected to win the majority. He highlighted how Republicans triumphed in all seven swing states by significant margins. Trump added that even in New Jersey, where the race was close, the results were making Democrats worried. He predicted that if the GOP continues to build momentum, they could win in traditionally Democratic states like New York, New Jersey, and even California in future elections.
