A video of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Rep. Maxine Waters attempting to lead a rally with an anti-Elon Musk chant fell flat as most attendees refused to join in.
The rally followed the Trump administration’s move to shut down USAID offices and place the organization under the State Department, marking the first time in history that foreign aid through USAID was paused. The rally also protested reports of Musk and his Government Efficiency Department gaining access to Treasury Department payment systems.
Schumer, speaking at the event, criticized Musk and his team for allegedly undermining privacy and public finances. He passionately declared, “We cannot allow Elon Musk and a small group of people to secretly take away our privacy, our dollars, everything we have.” He attempted to lead a chant, “We will win,” but after a lack of response, switched to “We won’t win!”
