Trump calls for Gavin Newsom to resign as LA’s raging inferno shows no signs of slowing down

Donald Trump has called for California Governor Gavin Newsom to resign as wildfires continue to devastate Los Angeles, reducing neighborhoods to ashes.

The call comes after Trump, who often refers to Newsom as “Gavin Newscum,” blamed the governor for the disaster. He criticized Newsom for prioritizing environmental policies over addressing the immediate needs of Californians.

In a recent Truth Social post, the president-elect doubled down on his demand for Newsom’s resignation, holding him responsible for the catastrophic fires. Trump wrote:
“One of the best and most beautiful parts of the United States of America is burning down to the ground. It’s ashes, and Gavin Newscum should resign. This is all his fault!!!”

In an interview with Anderson Cooper on Wednesday, as the fires raged on, Newsom responded to Trump’s criticism. Appearing visibly affected, he said:
“People are literally fleeing. People have lost their lives. Kids lost their schools, families completely torn asunder, churches burned down.”

Although Newsom refrained from directly attacking Trump, he added, “I have a lot of thoughts and I know what I want to say… I won’t.”
