Host Neil Cavuto, a 28-year veteran of Fox News, is set to announce his departure following his show Your World on Thursday afternoon.
With his contract set to expire at the end of the month, Thursday will mark his final appearance on the network.
Cavuto, a beloved Fox veteran since the network’s inception in the late 1990s, is leaving despite being offered a new contract. Mediaite reports his decision reflects a broader industry trend of prominent journalists exiting amid belt-tightening measures and lower salary offers.
While Fox remains dominant in ratings and strategy, it isn’t immune to industry shifts. Known for his iconoclastic approach, Cavuto frequently challenged Trump and spoke openly about his battles with multiple sclerosis and his near-fatal encounter with Covid, becoming a vocal critic of vaccine denialism.
A source told Mediaite that Cavuto’s departure isn’t linked to his disagreements with Trump. If his criticism had been an issue, his show likely would have been canceled long ago.
As a respected news and business reporter, Cavuto anchored 12 hours of weekly programming, including Cavuto: Coast to Coast on Fox Business and Your World.
Fox News and Fox Business plan to debut new programs next year. Until then, Your World will feature rotating anchors, and Coast to Coast will be rebranded as FOX Business Live with alternating hosts.
“Neil Cavuto’s 28-year career with FOX News Media has been a master class in journalism. His programs set the standard for business news. We wish him the best in his next chapter,” the network said in a statement to Mediaite.
In September, Cavuto criticized Trump’s debate performance against Kamala Harris, calling it “decisively lost” and “all over the map.” Trump fired back on Truth Social, calling Cavuto “one of the WORST on Television” and saying he preferred CNN and MSNBC anchors over him.
